The building, which belonged to the Paduan Dondi Orologio family, is also known as “Ex Moschini” or “Ex Rodella.” The palace has a 16th-century horseshoe-shaped plan and a large garden which directly faces the south side of a public street, today’s Corso Milano. From the 1930s it appears to have belonged to a well-known Milanese pharmaceutical company, which converted it into local headquarters with a laboratory and offices. The size of the building corresponded to the volume of the present building except for the wing to the east, which turns out to have been rebuilt on a pre-existing building close to the Verdi Theater and partially demolished in the late 1950s. In 1972 a complete restoration began by a new owner in order to establish the fur business there. Since 1995 the building size has been reduced, undergoing numerous transformations in order to meet the different needs of new tenants and their predominantly office-based activities. As of 2018, the need to modernize the facilities for adequate functioning and energy efficiency of the building required a compatibility check of all work carried out after 1972. Additionally, a project plan was put into place with special attention to the restoration of the cultural elements (the finishes, the decorative elements, and the architectural spaces). A conservative restoration of the facades was recently completed while the design of a portion of the east wing is underway to complete the remediation of the complex.
