Located in Vicenza’s old city centre, Casa Colpi-Zaniolo, a property declared to be of cultural interest by the Soprintendenza per i Beni Ambientali e Architettonici del Veneto, is an eighteenth-century gentleman’s residence distinguished by an archivolt entrance surmounted by a stone balcony enriched with balusters and by a large garden at the back.
The restoration of the building between 2008 and 2010 not only improved its layout, creating several apartments, but also returned greater uniformity to the facades, thanks to cleaning works and the integration of the plastered surfaces, and gave a new dignity to the courtyard and garden at the back, now the building’s real treasure.
The furnishings and the finishes of the interiors, designed with particular care, enhance the quality of the spaces and highlight the new architectural works, such as the staircase between the ground and first floors, protected by a white painted wooden bookcase, and the finishes in yellow Vicenza stone that embellish and illuminate the kitchen.
The courtyard at the back, redesigned with new paving in ‘washed Veneziana’, is positioned between the garden, planted with various species of tree, and the facade of the building, marked by the new terrace parapets, designed to hold vases for plants and a sophisticated irrigation system.
