Museum complexes, set up as organisms aimed at the conservation of finds and testimonies of various kind, now take on a more complex value, becoming the main means of scientific-technical promotion, also for ‘non-specialists’. The actual narrative is often entrusted to multimedia techniques that, by their nature, are excellent educational support media. Such is the case with the video montage that, relying on the visual impact of the images and the rhythm of the narration, allows an ‘intuitive’ understanding even of complicated subjects.
An educational video, dedicated to the anatomy of the brain and the development of therapies for the main cerebral pathologies, enriches the pathway around the scientific instruments in the neuroscience section of the Museo di Storia della Medicina in Rome. The history of electroshock is narrated in episodes, from the first of Bine and Cerletti’s theories to the first experiments carried out on animals and people. Excerpts of interviews and films allowed by Teche Rai alternate with archive images and documents, with the aim of highlighting the therapeutic properties of electroshock and the studies that led to its definition and use.
